LittleBigPlanet Will Not Have Image Importing Update
Now You See It, Now You Don't.

Despite what many of you may have read on the internets this morning, it appears as if there will not be an update to include image importing in LittleBigPlanet. Earlier, LBP's Alex Evans had mentioned the only reason image importing was left out was due to time constraints, and this holiday, gamers could expect a patch to include the missing feature. To set the record straight, one of the game's producers had this to say on the PlayStation blog:
... there are currently no plans to introduce it for a variety of reasons... Right now there are no plans to introduce image importing to the game, and we'll update if that changes.
This means I'm back to square one on trying to get the lighting right for taking a picture of my butt with the PlayStation Eye. I'm actually not that disappointed by the debunking of this particular rumor. LittleBigPlanet has enough going for it that I didn't even notice this feature was missing. Quite frankly, I'm glad this isn't happening. Now level creators will have to get even more creative when trying to accomplish their grandiose designs instead of relying on a .jpg. Now get out there and give me the most faithful recreation of Spider-Man's origin as a playable LBP level. Better yet, make me a level that recreates a cast reunion of AirWolf. Yeah, that'll do.

i can understand what you say about people having to be more creative, but at the same time i am able to take a picture with the eye and use it in a level, why can i not take something off my HD? I think this and the music feature need to be added. Will it be bad if they are not? No it wont but i think it would be a very welcome feature to a lot of people.

Careful what you say, sir. I have a friend who spent an entire semester on suspension, on the couch, watching AirWolf. He may very well create a level which is an episode of that very show.
i want a feature that goes in the opposite direction. i want to be able to export a snapshot of my sackgirl or my level so i can use it as wallpaper, avatars, etc.

where would these imported images appear? as skins for the little rag dolls in the game?
