McFarlane Making Halo: Reach Figures
This Comes As A Massive Surprise.
by 00.19

McFarlane Toys has revealed plans to make a series of action figures based on the upcoming Microsoft shooter, Halo: Reach. As McFarlane Toys is the current manufacturer of a quadrillion different figures based on Halo 3 and Halo: ODST, the news undoubtedly comes as a complete shock to everyone.
There are few details about the figures at this time, but we do know that they'll be in scale with the already released Halo toys. The poseable dolls will also come with new vehicles, and special "deluxe figures packs," which screams of ridiculous ordering incentives and chase variants likely to drive a Halo fanatic into bankruptcy. I have admit having a few of these figures in my collection, but outside of Master Chief, I couldn't care less about any of these other plasticized soldiers. I guess the new guy from Reach with the skull on his helmet will be cool, but I won't be picking any of these up.
Be sure to check back in the coming weeks, as we'll be heading to ToyFair International 2010, and hopefully we'll be able to bring those of you that are excited a first look at these figures, and many more. In the meantime, check out the full press release below for more.
This fall, McFarlane Toys will bring the world action figures from the most anticipated video game of 2010 -- Halo: Reach!
Halo: Reach is an all-new prequel to the massively popular Halo trilogy -- scheduled for release this fall exclusively on the Xbox 360 -- and McFarlane Toys will be there riding shotgun. We'll bring the heavy weapons into the fracas with all new five-inch action figures, in-scale vehicles and deluxe figure packs. And the action doesn't stop in 2010! McFarlane Toys will produce additional Halo: Reach figures and vehicles well into 2011.
"We are extremely excited about what Halo: Reach offers as the next evolution of the Halo franchise, both in terms of story and gameplay and how these elements can be translated into our specific field of expertise: action figures and collectibles." said McFarlane Toys CEO, Todd McFarlane. "This is a great opportunity for us to bring some of the exciting visual advances that have been developed for Halo: Reach to three-dimensional life in the action figure arena. More and more of our retailers are seeing the impact that video games -- and Halo in particular -- are having on popular culture and entertainment as a whole, and they're finally waking up to the fact that video games are as much of a viable toy product as the biggest movie franchises. It looks like 2010 will end on a tremendous up swing!"

If you ask me, the HALO franchise is getting out of control. Wasn't it supposed to be a trilogy? Now it's a mess of spinoffs with 2 releases a year it seems.
Color me shocked. And awed. Mostly awed.
