MLB 09: The Show Will Implement User Created Taunting

The recently announced (like we didn't know it was coming anyway) MLB 09: The Show is already boasting a few improvements over last year's version. Sony is promising some new lighting techniques to make games seem like they're actually occuring in real time. In addition, gamers will finally be able to create their own walk-up music in a console baseball game. Not only that, but according the US PlayStation blog, they'll also be able to create their own chants and taunts.

...have you ever screamed at your TV at a bad (or good) play when engaged in a sports game? Well now your voice can be heard IN THE GAME by allowing users to record their own fan chants and yells and integrate them seamlessly into the ambient crowd noise.

No longer will we be forced to listen to the same generic taunts over and over again. Phillies fans can finally insert an "Everybody hits, whoohoo!" Yankee haters can add a "Gay-rod... Gay-rod" taunt, or if you're actually a Yankee fan, you could record yourself screaming, "Marry me Jeter!" Whatever floats your boat.

I think is pretty cool, and am really hoping that I get that PlayStation Eye for Christmas now. And even though Pat Burrel will most likely not be a Phillie again next year, I can track him down, and make sure that "Holy Diver" is his walk-up song. The man's earned it.

Oh, I almost forgot... here's some screens of the upcoming game.
