The programming schedule for the San Diego Comic Con has come out, and those of you looking for any news on the upcoming Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time movie may have noticed a panel devoted to the graphic novel Disney is producing as a tie in. On Friday the 24th, you can look forward to joining Prince of Persia creator Jordan Mechner, Todd McFarlane, Cameron Stewart, Tommy Lee Edwards, and Bernard Chang to see just what they have to say about the forthcoming anthology.

Other contributors not scheduled to appear include Josh Middleton and Niko Henrichon. Mechner had this to say about the project on his blog:

It’s been a very cool project and one I’ve had a lot of fun doing. The book is a prequel to the movie... with each chapter drawn by a different artist in a different style. It’ll be published next April as part of the Prince of Persia movie pre-launch.

Other than that, there's really not much to report. But I don't want to leave you guys hanging, so I'm going to give you a taste of what you can expect art-wise from this upcoming book, which will be entirely different from the other Prince of Persia graphic novel that was released about a year ago.

Bernard Chang: Chang's storytelling is very strong, and his figures are well rendered, particularly for a style that's very clean. When he's not working on mainstream books, he's got an interesting cartoonish style that many of you may have seen, and not even realized it.

Niko Henrichon: Henrichon is one of my favorite artists working today. His style is incredibly unique, and ranges from the incredibly real to the incredibly fantastic. Many of you might have seen the Mirror's Edge comic, for which Niko was handling the covers.

Todd McFarlane: Considering Todd hasn't really drawn anything in the last few years, I'm curious to see what his art will look like in this book. He's definitely still got a unique pencilling style that can either remind you of your favorite parts of the 90s comic, or the worst. If his work on the Halo controllers is any indication, we might be in for a surprise.

Joshua Middleton: Middleton's clean lines and wonderful colors will have you immediately searching out more of his works the minute you lay your eyes upon one of his pages. One of the most interesting talents in the industry right now, any time he's working on a project people take notice.

Cameron Stewart: Whether he's working on creator-owned works like the one above, or on mainstream books, every Cameron Stewart book is guaranteed to have awesome action and really pretty women. His minimalist approach to stoytelling keeps you focused on what's important (character and action), and will have you flying through pages in order to keep up with him.

That's a pretty impressive artistic team, and I'm hoping that the book looks as great as these guys are capable of making it. For now, we'll just have to wait a little longer to find out more about what this book will actually be about.

It could work or be totally weird with such diversified artists.
