Two new videos for THQ's upcoming MMA title UFC Undisputed 2010 arrived today. One features the always dangerous Cain Velasquez enlightening viewers on his workout regimen, while the other showcases the new combat techniques added to this year's fighting system. It seems like THQ is going to great lengths to address the issues that held last year's effort back from being truly stellar. Don't get me wrong. I think last year's game was a phenomenal first effort, but from all indications, UFC 2010 looks like it's going to surpass the original in just about every aspect.
The addition of these new martial art skills is going to go a long way in recreating a more realistic feel, as well as providing gamers with a fairly decent range of options inside the octagon. Real fighters often have a vast range of skills available in the ring, and while last year's Undisputed was a lot of fun, players were limited in their approach when trying to win. With the inclusion of these new abilities, there should be a near-endless amount of ways to escape a given situation.
You can clearly see a ton of new animations, and some improved character modeling, but most importantly, you get an idea of just how different this year's version of the game is going to play. Knowledge of your particular fighter's techniques is going to huge, and I can't wait to see what a three-round fight is going to look like between two players who've been playing for a few weeks. I just hope the computer's AI is able to master the moves as well as a human is so I have a good training partner. Lord knows losing to another live person over and over again hasn't taught me anything new other than how to be gracious to the guy making me tap.
