Show of hands, who's tired of music games? Yeah, me either. And that's in spite of the Beatles Rock Band constantly blaring from the speakers in my house. Perhaps motivated by the success and popularity of Harmonix's latest venture, drummer Nick Mason has spoken up about getting a version of the game focusing on the catalog of his band, Pink Floyd. Mayhaps you've heard of them?

In an interview with the BBC, Mason said he thinks the band would consider starring in a music game, without stating a preference as to which one (Rock Band, Guitar Hero). Of course, like many of the classic rock bands from years past, members of Pink Floyd share the sentiment that the video games do detract from kids actually learning real instruments. The reason Mason believes in the concept of a Pink Floyd game?

"Everyone's looking at new ways of selling the music because the business of selling records has almost disappeared."

I'd leap at the chance to play a Floyd-centric game, pending it didn't include one of the most overplayed records of all time, Dark Side of the Moon. Don't get me wrong. I still enjoy listening to it. It's just that there's so much more to Pink Floyd than that one record. Trying to play streamlined tablatures for David Gilmour's guitar, or Roger Waters' bass, would probably give me a serious wrist disorder, but it sure would be fun to try. I don't know why I'm getting my hopes up though. It's not like there are any serious talks about this happening anytime soon. Doesn't mean I can't cross my fingers, and hope Coop dies.
