Randy Couture Joins EA MMA Roster

Maybe Now He'll Finally Get To Fight Fedor.

Another prominent MMA fighter joined the roster of EA MMA this afternoon. According to EA PR rep Rob Semsey's Twitter, the former UFC Heavyweight and Light Heavyweight champion, Randy Couture, will be in EA's 2010 shipping title.

While Dana White has gone on record claiming that anyone who signs up to be a part of EA's game will not fight in the UFC, I highly doubt that he's going to cut Couture from the PPV sheduled for the end of this month, especially considering he's fighting in the main event. I have to say I'm a bit conflicted. I love Randy. The guy's just a great personality and fighter. I want him to fight in the UFC, and make the roster for next year's effort, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen now. At least now we know officially why he didn't make it into UFC 2009 Undisputed.

I'm really looking forward to his fight at the end of the month, and if that's his last fight with the UFC, I hope he makes it a good one. I just hope that Dana realizes how much of a draw Randy is, and doesn't let him go over something so trivial as a video game contract.

I am actually interested in seeing what EA can do with an MMA game. Hopefully it will be something like the current UFC game but with a little bit of the Fight Night Round 4 touch.
