Rumor: Nintendo DSi Coming Stateside April 4th

Seventy bajillion DS owners around the world are about to have obsolete systems. According to "multiple sources close to Nintendo," Nintendo's next big little thing will drop on Western shores April 4th for the low, low price of $179.99.
This marks the third time a new version of the DS will hit shelves, and will undoubtedly mark the third time parents hoping to get something nice for their kids will lose out to fanboys bumrushing Gamestops as soon as a reserve date is announced. Don't worry folks, you'll be able to get one for your kids sometime this August.
Nintendo has a penchant for upgrading their handhelds three times, (Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Pocket; Gameboy Advance, Gameboy Advance SP, Gameboy Micro; Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi) so even though this is yet another version of the universe's most popular portable gaming device, it will also more than likely be the last version of the DS. Whatever Nintendo has in store next for gamers is anyone's guess, but if it sells anywhere near as well as the DS, Nintendo will be one step closer to ruling the galaxy.

Not obsolete if they're still making software for it.
Doesn't seem like enough of a change to replace the current but great for new DS users.
I always have a GBA game handy so can't see doing away with the compatibility either.

Y'know what? Y'know what? I'll wait at least a year after its release to, as many put it, "upgrade" my DS Lite to the DSi. Of course I'm only after the animation software packaged that's shipping with the handheld.

Get an official realease date and consider this beauty pre-ordered.
My DS Lite is on its last legs. It likes to freeze occasionally, the hinges have finally broken in two and will not longer "lock" into place, the screens are all scratched (thanks EBA/Ouendan), and it's really dirty. You've been through a lot DS Lite, but time to retire. DSi will succeed your worthy role.
With that in mind, I hope it's coming out soon. This poor old thing can't take much more!

I'll stick with my GB Micro until I run out of RPGs and Metroid/Castlevania games to beat.

The next one is another incarnation of the Virtual Boy. They're just going to call it something else and add textures to the software. No more laser grid to destroy retinas. Just kids not being social even more than with the current-gen DS's.
Ah, Virtual Boy. How I miss thee. Ahead of your time by only a decade, much like many other failures.
