Seven New Fighters Announced for EA Sports MMA
Roster Reveals Recognizable Names, Few Headliners
by 00.19
During a live chat today, EA Sports MMA developers revealed seven new fighters for the roster of the upcoming title. Included in the mix is Cung Le, who you can see in the video above, Robbie Lawler, Scott Smith, Matt Lindland, Jacare, Josh Thompson, and Gilbert Melendez. None of the seven men are truly elite fighters, but will certainly fill out the roster in an effort to compete with THQ's UFC Undisputed 2010.
Personally, I couldn't care less about Cung Le. Robbie Lawler's got some decent hands, but I'm not exactly dying to use him in a fight. I'm not Matt Lindland's biggest fan, and truthfully, Josh Thompson and Scott Smith don't exactly have me running to Gamestop to plunk down my $5 to reserve the game. Jacare and Gilbert Melendez don't come to the top of my mind when I'm thinking of fighters that people interested in MMA should watch fight, but I'm sure that somebody somewhere is thrilled at the opportunity to throw down with the two of those guys.
As far as I'm concerned, there are still too few major fighters to make this game an absolute must buy, but I'm still intrigued by the game. We all know so little about how it will play, and just what kind of experience the game will offer, but I've got faith that they're going to come through. They'll have to with a roster as light on big names as this one.

If rumors of some fighters from Sengoku or Dream being in the game are true, then I'll definitely check it out. I hope Zaromskis makes it into the game since he signed up with Strikeforce.
I've heard of none of these fighters. Oh well, they still have some big names, right?
