Sony Europe Not Firing Anyone
Yeah, And Monkeys Might Fly Out of My Butt.

Despite news of rampant layoffs at Sony company wide, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe head, David Reeves, is making sure everyone knows where they stand under his rule.
We're certainly not planning to cut back in personnel at all. Half of our personnel are in the development of the games, that's an investment. We're not scaling down at all.
Since 8000 people are being cut loose, you'd figure some of them were going to come from Europe. It's just science. Reeves' statement then means that the percentage of people normally fired from Europe will have to be cut somewhere else. Unless Reeves is full of shit, which bigwigs usually are in times of crisis.
If I were working for SCEE, I wouldn't be holding my breath in hopes of a Christmas bonus. In fact, I wouldn't be holding my breath that my job would still be there when I came back in the new year. Of course, I have a simple solution: Start selling PS3s. It's that easy. Just find a way to sell enough PS3s to cover the cost of your yearly salary, and bam, you get to keep your job. If you've got a better idea, better start putting it to good use.
