Sony Says This E3 is the One We've Been Waiting For
Oh, Yeah? Prove It.

SCEA marketing boss John Koller thinks that this year's E3 is going to be the one PlayStation fans have been clamoring for since the release of the the PlayStation 3. Said Koller:
“We’ve just started planning what the announcements will be, but I’ve been here for 11 years: this will be one of the larger E3s in terms of software and just discussions about where we’re going from a brand perspective and where each of the platforms is headed.”
Okay, John, you've got me interested.
While big game announcements are commonplace at the industry event, last year's Sony presentation was full of promise for things down the line, and lacked any real "Holy Crap!" punch. Not that God of War III isn't exciting, it's just that everything else up to that point was well overshadowed by both the huge FFXIII announcement from Microsoft and the surprising lack of announcements from Nintendo, leaving Sony's 2008 E3 sort of unimpressive either way. Koller really thinks that this year, fans will be pleased, adding:
“I think some of the big announcements are going to come of the software side. We talked a bit at Destination PlayStation, and came out with about half of the PSP line-up, maybe even less... The same goes for PS3. There’s a really strong line-up of games that’s going to help drive a lot of business.”
I really love my PS3, and even though my library for the system isn't quite as robust as my 360's, I'm hoping that this is the year I get to expand the exclusives for in the Sony section. Of course, this is a story I've heard before, and a boy can only cry "Wolf!" so many times before we stop believing him, and we're forced to watch him get eaten by wolves. With so much being made of putting on a huge E3 this year, I really hope all the companies deliver on the hype. You can believe that we'll be there covering just about every damned inch of the place for you guys once June rolls around, so stay tuned.

I sure do hope that a big show means more than just a console price cut. I'm guessing new PSP.
from what was said in an earlier article, there will be some big news software wise.
Yeah, they definitely seem to be stressing software.
I am hoping all the major companies are planning the same - I think Nintendo has the biggest splash this year, though. I expect 3 of their major IP's to be represented.
i hope they are not lying. it would be nice to see sony rise again.
nintendo has 3 major IP's?
I'm thinking a new Zelda, Metroid, and Pikmin. I guess you could say Pikmin isn't a MAJOR IP, but many companies would die for one of Nintendo's mediocre ones.
And how many times has Koller said something that was, blatantly, wrong or just didn't make any sense? Oh, wait! Just about a month or two ago.
