The sixty-four billion of you collectively holding your breath while awaiting the next Ghost Recon game can exhale. Today Ubisoft revealed Tom Clany's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier would be arriving later this year, and will contain "cutting edge tech" and "prototype high-tech weaponry." The game will be arriving on the 360, PS3, and PC, and people who purchase Splinter Cell: Conviction for the Xbox will get access to a multiplayer beta later this summer.

I've never once played a Ghost Recon game, but I know what they're about, and have played EndWar and several of the Rainbow Six titles, so I'm at least a bit familiar with the Tom Clancy concept. There's reportedly a video coming later today on Xbox Live that will show off a bit of what we can expect this holiday season, but I'm wagering there'll be some holographic displays on helmets, UAVs, and possibly weapons that haven't actually been invented yet. I don't know why I never got into the Ghost Recon games, but this game's going to have to have something really special about it to get me interested. Guess I'll just have to wait for the teaser trailer to find out.

If you're feeling up to it, go ahead and give the super brief official release below a read.
