UFC 2009 Roster Update
Find Out Who's In The Game So Far.
by 00.19

With UFC 94 just around the corner, IGN did MMA fans a solid by posting the most up-to-date roster for THQ's upcoming game based on the most recognized brand in cage-fighting, UFC 2009 Undisputed. You can expect to see the following fighters in the game on day one:
Brock Lesnar (Heavyweight Champion)
Frank Mir (Interim Heavyweight Champion)
Rashad Evans (Light Heavyweight Champion)
Anderson Silva (Middleweight Champion)
Georges St. Pierre (Welterweight Champion)
B.J. Penn (Lightweight Champion)
Forrest Griffin
Rampage Jackson
Chuck Liddell
Wanderlei Silva
Kenny Florian
Roger Huerta
Michael Bisping
Matt Hughes
Joe Stevenson
Antonio Nogueira
Rich Franklin
Dan Henderson
What's interesting is the inclusion of Matt Hughes. The man hasn't been heard from or seen since his last fight, so his name being on the early list caught me by surprise. Jon Fitch isn't on the preliminary list either, and even though we know he's been through the wringer contractually because of this game, I just assumed that he'd be here considering he eventually signed the deal. Of course, this list is only comprised of 18 fighters, and the game will reportedly boast close to 60 by the time the roster is finalized.
This is probably my most anticipated game of the first half of the year, and THQ really has a chance to knock it out of the park. From all the gameplay footage we've seen so far, there's no doubt in my mind that gamers will finally have the UFC game they've been waiting for since Sudden Impact. As per usual with their last few PPV cards, you can probably expect to see some in-game footage of Georges St. Pierre vs BJ Penn by this weekend. No matter what, fight fans should be excited.
