Western Markets Not Getting Motion Control Version of Resident Evil 5?
Apparently All We're Good For Is DLC, Not New Controls.

It appears that my excitement for the upcoming release of both the PlayStation motion controller and the re-release of Resident Evil 5 may have been premature. Though Capcom never officially stated that the Japanese version of Resident Evil 5: Alternate Edition, the one complete with motion control for the PS3, would be making its way stateside, the general consensus was that the Western version, dubbed RE5: Gold Edition, was the exact same game Eastern residents were getting, only with a different name. Apparently, we were all wrong. During a conversation Kotaku had with Capcom about the new version of Resident Evil 5 getting delayed to conincide with the delay of Sony's motion controllers, it was revealed that "Capcom has not announced any compatibility between Sony's motion controller and Resident Evil 5 in North America. The release of this product will be unaffected by the delay in our territory and is still on track for a March 9 release with the individual pieces of downloadable content released prior." Well then, I guess that settles that.
Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with the delay of the motion controllers. The game is still coming out in Japan, and the DLC is still coming out in America. It just means that Capcom never intended for us to be able to play Resident Evil 5 with that funky control scheme. I can't tell you why I was looking forward to motion controls in Resident Evil 5 so much. I really enjoyed the regular version of the game, but having played RE4 on the Wii, I knew that motion controlled aiming makes an already great game even better. Getting the additional missions featuring Jill, and the new Mercenaries content, was nothing more than a bonus. Of course, now that I know the new story and multiplayer stuff are the only things we're getting in America, I'm a little disappointed. Though, I guess it's a bit of a blessing in disguise because now I don't have to worry about buying yet another game in March.
I'm still picking up that DLC day one, and can't wait to play the new Jill-centric missions. Maybe one day, we'll be able to get our hands on Alternate Edition, but for now, I'll just have to settle for the DLC.
