I don't know if you guys are as excited as I am for the upcoming actioner WET, but you should be. Before today, I hadn't played the actual game, but I was definitely looking forward to it. Hell, I reserved it before Bethesda and Gamestop announced the $10 off deal. This morning, I awoke to word that there was a demo up for the game on the PlayStation Store... in the UK. That was just fine by me. It doesn't take that long to set up a fake European account.

I can't recommend trying out this demo enough. After playing through the fifteen or so minutes of gameplay, my assumptions that the game was going to be incredibly fun to play were right. The demo starts you out in San Francisco's Chinatown, where you infiltrate a restaurant filled with some Yakuza-like thugs. Here you learn that Rubi's world exists in a land where God is a big fan of John Woo. Nearly every movement Rubi makes is done in slow motion to allow players to get involved in the action with some excellent gunplay. Rubi twisting and turning while firing an endless barrage of bullets at enemies is a sight to behold. While you may think that a game sharing many similarities with Stranglehold wouldn't be a strong point, the presentation of the game is what seals the deal.

WET's grindhouse camera filter really hammers home the action movie concept. The only time the demo didn't have a grainy look was when it switched to a brief segment of Rage mode, where the everything on screen is rendered in red, black, and white. It's intense, hectic, and I wish that segment was longer. Knowing that it will happen more often when the actual game ships has me hyped though. I was a bit disappointed with the highway chase scene, only because it wasn't as fast-paced as the rest of the demo, and it may have dulled some of the high-octane momentum.

There's no word on when to expect this game on the US PlayStation Store, or even the Xbox 360, but with the game's release less than a month away, demo availability on those two networks can't be far off. I highly recommend checking it out. If anything, it's made me want the game more knowing what lies ahead.
