Dear Dracula OGN

It’s that time of the year. The ghouls and goblins are preparing the yearly sojurn into Walmarts and Halloween Adventures across America. What better way to celebrate than with a book about little boy who writes Dracula, instead of Santa Claus, to see if he can become a vampire for Halloween. It’s $7.99, but it’s also a nice little hardcover story that deserves attention in this very light week of releases.

MARVEL COMICS

Amazing Spider-Man #573

The final part of the “New Ways to Die” storyline hits shelves this week. I’ve been enjoying what Marvel’s been doing with Spider-Man recently, and for all intents and purposes, this book seems to have returned to form. Enjoy it yourself for just $2.99.

Astonishing X-Men #27

Warren Ellis and Simone Bianchi’s work on this title is not to be missed. It’s only the second issue of their run, so don’t feel like you can’t just grab this one and be caught up. Ellis seems to be having fun with these superheroes, and his words alone make this book worth your hard-earned $2.99.

Guardians of the Galaxy #6

Man, this book is so much fun. You really need to start reading this. Pick it up for $2.99. Honestly, you truly need to start reading this book. This week would be a good start.

Trade Paperback/Hardcover of the Week

Scalped Vol. 3: Dead Mothers

Easily one of the best non-superhero books to hit shelves every month, Jason Aaron and RM Guera’s Scalped delivers everything you could want from a modern crime tale. Dramatic, action filled, and starring some of the best new characters of the last five years, Scalped will have you hooked for the long run after just a few pages. The “Dead Mothers” arc is particularly gut-wrenching, and without giving anything away, will have you seeking revenge just as badly as Dashiel Badhorse. $17.99 gets you seven issues you’ll regret having not read already.

Oh, and be sure to check TheQuarterbin tomorrow for an interview with Scalped writer Jason Aaron.

See you next week.
