This stand-alone $2.99 issue is going to be following around one of my favorite characters in the DMZ, Zee. It’s been a while since we’ve seen what she’s been up to, and Wood’s one-off stories in this series have really shined. If for whatever reason you haven’t already been reading this book, there’s no time like the present to start. Grab this tomorrow.

Green Lantern Corps #35

Sodam Yat and Arisa head off to Daxam to take on the Sinestro Corps. Yeah, missing this $2.99 issue isn’t going to be an option.

Incognito #3

Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips series about a former supervillain in the witness protection program has been an interesting read thus far, and I highly doubt that’s going to change this issue. The two creators make a team that continually delivers outstanding story after outstanding story no matter the genre, and Incognito is a prime example of their excellent ability to adapt and create a compelling narrative. Definitely check out this $3.50 comic.

The Stand: American Nightmare #2

After the first mini-series of Marvel’s adaptation, I started reading the actual novel. Well, it’s pretty damned heavy. I think I’m going to try and keep pace with the comic series as best I can, not because I don’t want to read ahead, but because Mike Perkins is so perfectly capturing the narrative visually. It’s really spooky how on point his pages are with what King put in his manuscript. Be sure to check out this $3.99 book.

Uncanny X-Men #508

Greg Land returns to join Matt Fraction for the opening salvo of the Sisterhood. I’m not sure what’s going to happen, but it’s going to read well, and it sure as shit is going to look amazing. This is some of the most fun I’ve had reading an X-book in a while. And as another plus, this $2.99 book makes a solid jumping on point for new readers.

Wolverine Noir #1

Alright, so you’ve no doubt noticed from previous posts that I really enjoy Marvel’s Noir line. While the $3.99 price tag on this entire line has been beating my wallet into the ground, I’ve found each of the stories to be well worth the investment so far. That trend doesn’t seem to be in any danger this week as Stuart Moore and CP Smith bring us Wolverine as a gumshoe in 1937. For the CP Smith art alone this book is worth a look.

The Perhapanauts: Triangle

Perhapanauts is a book about a misfit band of supernatural investigators working for the government. Sounds a bit like Hellboy, but that’s not a knock on it. I love that book, and I’m hoping that I love this one too. For whatever reason, I just never picked it up in single issues as it was coming out, but I’ve heard lots of good things, and Craig Rousseau is a talented artist that I’d love to see working on his own characters. Todd Dezago’s no slouch either, and I’m really looking forward to reading this 204-page collection. You can get your own copy for $17.99.
