DC COMICS

Detective Comics #855 - $2.99

Please tell me you didn’t miss out on ‘Tec #854. I would hate to find out you missed one of the best comic books of 2009. Greg Rucka is just getting warmed up on a 12-issue run sure to be remembered, and JH Williams’ art is, to put it simply, stunning. Williams’ talent was never in doubt, but this series has shown that he’s working on another level entirely. I believe there’s quite a bit to like about this book, and once you open it, I guarantee you’ll feel the same way.

Northlanders #19 - $2.99

In part two of “The Shield Maidens,” we’ll find out just what happens when three women make a last stand against an angry army of invaders. I’ve praised this book countless times, and there’s only so many good things I can say about Brian Wood’s writing. I just hope you’ve finally started taking my advice about reading this book every month.

Wonder Woman #34 - $2.99

Wonder Woman. Black Canary. Gail Simone. Aaron Lopresti. Yep, this is definitely going to be one hell of a story.

MARVEL COMICS

Secret Warriors #6 - $2.99

Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli conclude their grand opening to one of Marvel’s best new books. Be there to see what happens when Nick Fury and his Secret Warriors take on H.Y.D.R.A. and H.A.M.M.E.R and whoever else decides to show up in this action-packed issue.

Ultimatum #5 - $3.99

It’s the end of a universe… for a few months. The Ultimate line ends its first act this week, and while the relaunch is still 8 weeks away, I’m still going to miss these books. At least we’re treated to some insanely detailed David Finch art.

TH3RD WORLD

Stuff of Legend #1 - $4.99

People, if you haven’t heard our site, or CBR, or Newsarama, or just about any other comic book opinion site praising Stuff of Legend, get out of the cave you’ve been living in, run to the comic shop, and buy this comic. Seriously, Mike Raicht, Brian Smith, and Charles Paul Wilson III are going to blow your mind when you open this book. My talking about it won’t do the work any justice, not because I don’t believe in this book, but simply because short of showing you what you’re missing, I can’t depend on my words to accurately hype this book. So, I’ll link you to our preview of the book so you can see what all the fuss is about yourself.

Trade Paperback/Hardcover of the Week

Jersey Gods, Volume One: I’d Live And I’d Die For You - $14.99

This trade marks the first time I’ll be reading this story too, but with all the critical acclaim, as well as backing from major comic talent like Mike Allred and Darwyn Cooke, you can be sure Glen Brunswick and Dan McDaid’s is going to be worth the price of admission. Besides, who doesn’t want to read a story about a Jersey girl who falls for a God of War? I know I do.

That’s all for this week. Oh, wait. Before I go, let me remind you to grab a copy of Green Lantern: First Flight, just released on Blu Ray and DVD this week. I can’t help but plug my favorite comic hero.

And don't forget to check TheQuarterbin.com for more daily comic goodness.

Yes, seriously, buy Stuff of Legend. It's fantastic. Can't recommend it enough.

I'm psyched for the new Wonder Woman, I'm equally psyched for Stuff of Legend, and I'm practically giddy over the fact that there's a new Gunslinger book this week too.
