Blackest Night #4 – $3.99

Just about to hit the half-way point of DC’s big event, and we’ve already seen some really cool shit. I wonder what Johns and Reis have up their sleeves, and I know you’re wondering too, so you better make sure this book comes home with you.

Detective Comics #858 – $2.99

The origin of Batwoman starts here. We’ve already seen her in action on more than one occasion, but now we’ll get to see how Katherine Kane became the latest member of the Bat-family. With JH Williams III providing the pictures, and Greg Rucka providing the words, you know you’re getting a quality product. Besides, you don’t want to miss out on the back-up adventures of the Question, do you?

Green Lantern #47 – $2.99

More “Blackest Night” goodness this week as the war between Orange Lantern Larfleeze and the Blue Lanterns escalates. Doug Mahnke provides the action, while Geoff Johns continues plotting the most interesting space saga the DCU may have ever seen. Just be sure not to miss out on this chapter of one of the greatest Green Lantern stories ever told.

Northlanders #21 – $2.99

Fantastic Four #572 – $2.99

This book hasn’t been this much fun to read since Mark Waid and the late Mike Wieringo were working on it. Hickman and Eaglesham churn out some exciting sci-fi that takes Marvel’s first family in familiar directions, while at the same time feeling fresh, and looking new. Here’s hoping they can keep it up for a long time to come.

Secret Warriors #9 – $3.99

H.A.M.M.E.R. versus the Secret Warriors, and ol’ man Fury’s out of town. Looks like we’re going to see if his latest batch of soldiers really have what it takes to be the next generation of heroes in the Marvel U. I’m betting on the good guys, but with Hickman at the helm, just about anything is possible.

Ultimate Comics Avengers #3 – $3.99

If there was ever a book that I wanted Mark Millar to write for the rest of his life, it’d be this one. The man just knows how these characters live and breathe, and even after all the crap they went through under writers who just didn’t grasp the concept, he manages to make the Ultimate Avengers fun to read once again. Teamed with Carlos Pacheco on art, you can believe that this is one of the most entertaining books on the shelf. I mean, really, take a look at that cover. How can you not want to see what those people do on the inside?

Wolverine: Old Man Logan – $34.99

Speaking of Mark Millar, here’s his tribute to Unforgiven, and just about every other Western revenge flick you can remember. This time of course, Clint is played by Wolverine, and the Wild West is actually the distant future of the Marvel U where the heroes of the world are long dead and gone, and ol’ Logan’s sheathed the claws. Folks, truly, if you missed this when it was coming out monthly, this whole shebang is worth it for the chapter where you find out why Wolvie hung up the costume alone. The rest? Well it’s just as good, and should be in your little library.
