What to Watch for Wednesday - 11.18.09

For comics shipping 11.18.09 or The Week You Spent All Your Money On Video Games. Every week I’ll check Diamond’s shipping list to see what you absolutely, positively need to spend all your hard earned cash on at the Local Comic Shop.
DC COMICS
Victorian Undead #1 – $2.99
Sherlock Holmes versus zombies? What will they think of next? So this mini-series focuses on a zombie uprising in Victorian era England, and the only people who can find an end to the onslaught are Holmes and Watson. I guess this is about the last bastion of unmined zombie fiction, so this book has that going for it. I’m looking forward to seeing just what happens in this story. Besides, who doesn’t love a good Sherlock Holmes story? Moriarty that’s who.
MARVEL COMICS
Amazing Spider-Man: The List – $3.99
Dan Slott and Adam Kubert bring you this week’s The List one-shot. Osborn wanted to save Spidey for last, and if the previous one-shots were any indication, we’re all in for one heck of a story. Slott’s got Parker down, and with Kubert on art, you better believe that this book si going to be worth every penny. Even if you haven’t been following the Dark Reign mega-event, this book should still be one of the better reads on shelves this week.
Spider-Woman #3 – $2.99
When we last left off, Jessica Drew was face to face with Madame Hydra on top of a parking garage in Madripoor. I’m not sure what’s going to happen next, but I’m looking forward to finding out. This book has been pretty solid thus far, and actually has me interested in Bendis and Maleev’s epic run on Daredevil that I missed when it originally happened. I know, I know. Anyhow, definitely check this out, and even if you happened to miss the first two books, your LCS should have you covered.
The Stand: Soul Survivors #2 – $3.99
Another issue of Marvel’s The Stand adaptation? Consider it bought. That kid on the cover looks absolutely ridiculous though. Like really, if I never have to read about a feral child again, I’ll be extremely happy. I’ll allow it this time, but seriously, if you want me to buy your comic, try to leave mentally unbalanced children off the cover.
Light week this week. Treat yourself to a copy of Left 4 Dead 2.
