While attending the NY Comic Con, we had a chance to get an early look at Raven Software's latest incarnation of the classic Wolfenstein franchise. Even though I couldn't actually get my hands on it, the game certainly looked like it was shaping up to be pretty solid. At the time, there wasn't any word on a release date, but word at Gamestop on the street is that gamers can expect to see Wolfenstein hit shelves July 28.

There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of competition for your gaming dollar that month, so Raven may have a nice summer surprise on their hands. I'm glad to see there are some publishers taking advantage of the months leading into the Fall gaming blitz, and while Wolfenstein may not be a sure-fire hit, at least it will now have a chance to stand on its own before being compared to the relentless onslaught of FPS games due later this year. At this point, consider me kinda interested, but I still need to see more before I make any kind of real judgement.
