Old Saves
What to keep, what to delete...
So, in an attempt to get into RPGs that aren't made by Squaresoft in some way (or at least aren't Final Fantasy), I picked up The Legend of Dragoon. Before I started playing it, of course, I had to go through all my full PS1 memory cards and figure out just what to do to make room.
I'm a packrat by nature. I keep everything. Aside from actual garbage (used papers, etc.), I don't think I've actually thrown anything out in the last decade or so. So I don't get rid of game saves, typically, even if I know I'm never playing the game again.
Some of them are saves for stuff like the Final Fantasy games, which I think makes sense. I mean, I spent 50+ hours on a game, I don't want to just get rid of it. But some of them, hell, I don't even remember what game they were for. Others are for games like Mega Man X4, which I can beat in about an hour with my eyes closed.
In any case, I just ended up moving a few saves to a PS2 memory card to make room. Like I said, packrat.
So do you guys generally keep the saves of games you've long ago beaten? What are some game saves you'd never delete?

Always keep'em!
Delete the losers...
I still have multiple PS1 memory cards with 10+ year old save files. If I really need to make room and usually I'll find something from a game I rented in 1998 or something, and that's safe to delete. My FF files usually stick around forever (which is ridiculous, since they take up more blocks, but I can't help it). I've got to have at least a whole memory card's worth of saves for FFVII, VIII, and IX alone.
In my normal life, I tend to be something of a pack rat. But when it comes to games, the usual rule of thumb is that I keep a save file until the game is traded in. There are some exceptions to this (I'm pretty sure I have all of my Madden save files from the last three years on my HDD, for some reason), but that tends to be how I roll.
i pretty much wait until i have to clear space for games that i keep in my library, but for review games, i dump the save file almost immediately after i finish playing.
f' em. i have a lot of fun starting from scratch in a lot of games i play. there are many games that i just haven't finished but i have started over again and again just to build it up from nothing. take oblivion for example. i have so many hours in that game yet i haven't even beat it yet
