Review
Fallout: New Vegas (PlayStation 3)
You like Fallout 3? Good, because this is Fallout 3.5!

Let me first say that I have only had one extended sit down session with New Vegas since buying it after work yesterday. And let me say that this was actually a hard sell for me as I spent work hours debating this purchase. I played a TON of Fallout 3, getting a platinum trophy for main game trophies, then all DLC trophies to 100% the game. Then, I never needed to play that game ever again. Jesus God, please no, never again. ANYWAY, I was a little confused if I loved that game or if unemployment made it a good time sink to use while having class every other day and nothing else to do. But as I started to play New Vegas, it clicked for me.
First up, New Vegas has Fallout 3 all over it. Some of the same art assets are straight up lifted from Fallout 3 and carried into the Mojhave. While this should probably piss me off, it really doesnt. The reason it doesn't is because Fallout can get away with this. The game is so unique and so different from all the other 3rd person shooter and sports game CRAP you deal with all the time, that you are willing to give it a pass on this blatant copy paste they did on stuff you've already seen. That's not to say that New Vegas doesn't feel much different from Washington DC, but when you see the same animation for a dust storm as you did in a game made 2 years ago, you kinda wonder what the hell they've been working on this whole time.
What you soon realize they dunked time into was the story telling. This game puts you right back in the saddle and has already given me some good moments where I think "God damn, this is a well written game". The crazy people you meet, the crazy shit you do, this is all what Fallout is about and it delivers with a more concise and a better feel than when I first popped in Fallout 3. The paths you should take from town to town are clearer, and the opening sequence is a lot more productive than Fallout 3's where you "grew up" and were thrust onto the wasteland.
BUGS. Bugs bugs bugs. I haven't seen any of the nightmares yet, and certainly experienced plenty of hard crashes on the last game. So far, I've only ran into a few quirks like one gecko falling from the sky to attack me, and fixing a radio for the local bar maid that was playing music just fine, then after fixing it she says "Wow, you got it working. Nice to hear music again" or something along those lines. A little weird, but nothing game breaking. Nonetheless, I still save my game every 30 mins. I know that crashes are Fallouts business, and sometimes, business is damn good.
Recommend? Hell yes. If you put a lot of time into Fallout 3, this game feels like muscle memory after an hour. VATS, loot, repair, equip, repeat. Again, early stages of the game and I'm already sitting around wishing I was at home playing this instead of working or going to school.
Feel free to ask me any questions about this game in the comments and I will answer them the best I can. Things I know I didn't cover were iron sights (which work well), and voice acting (which is great).

As someone who liked, but didn't love F3, I'm still leery.
If you liked Fallout 3, you will like this game. It's a better story, more solid mechanics and actually is a bit less brutal. Plenty of money, ammo, weapons and armor to choose from early on.
I bought, realized how buggy it was on 360, and will never play it again. This day and age from a company like Obsidian I demand better quality at launch from my games.
Lol, a company like Obsidian, implying they are some video game powerhouse.
