UPDATE: Shacknews is reporting that 3D Realms has contacted them and stated that this is not an official confirmation, here is the quote:

"3D Realms has informed Shacknews that a release date and platforms for Duke Nukem Forever were not confirmed in its interview with the Dallas Business Journal. A more detailed response is expected later today.

Though 3D Realms has yet to announce a release date or platforms for Duke Nukem Forever, its denial of today's reports only indicate the company is not prepared to discuss those specifics at this time, not that the project has suffered a delay or setback."

 

Duke Nukem Forever has had more jokes follow its awful, inconsistent, and embarrassing development cycle then any trip outdoors by Paris Hilton - it has also revealed less. It is truly embarrassing that a franchise that used to have so many followers is the laughing stock of the industry.

That stigma doesn’t look like it will end any time soon, but if the president of 3D Realms is to be trusted (he isn’t) we may have to quit joking later this year. Apparently the game is actually making progress and is slated for a 2008 release. That’s right, this year.

In an interview with the Dallas Business Journal, 3D Realms' President Scott Miller set a tentative date (see: year) and confirmed that the game will be hitting up the “big three.”

We haven't formally announced any platforms for DNF...But, of course hitting the big three makes the most sense (PC, PS3, 360).

This source is barely worth listening to, as Duke Nukem Forever has been given several “release dates” over the course of the past ten years. This is the first time one has been given for a time within reach, though, and that is worth breaking out the cigars over.
