"Porkchop Sandwiches" Cut from G.I. Joe Game

After finally getting a chance to get some hands-on time with the new G.I. Joe game (check back for our impressions of the gameplay within the next couple of days), I talked to some of the developers a bit about the franchise's following. Inevitably, the fantastic G.I. Joe PSAs were brought up, and we began talking about the parody videos that accrued million of views across Youtube. Apparently they are bigger fans than you'd think, to the point where they had every voice actor contributing lines to record a "PORKCHOP SANDWICHES!" for use during the game.
Sadly, it was not meant to be. They ran it past Hasbro's legal department, who took issue with the phrase's inclusion and shot it down. They fought the fight, but it just couldn't happen. Apparently there are already some lawsuits going on involving the PSAs, and they didn't want to take a chance to harm their case. Understandable, but regrettable.
In case you're wondering, they were planning on using it like an exclamation. When characters would turn a corner and seen an enemy they might have yelled "PORKCHOP SANDWICHES!", which would have undoubtedly grabbed a smirk from just about anyone playing. Hell, if X-Men 3 got away with throwing in "I'm the Juggernaut, Bitch," there's no reason they shouldn't have been able to get this in.

The word offended wasn't mentioned once in this story.

I think it has more to do with the fact that the internet video meme from which "porkchop sandwiches" originated isn't something Hasbro actually endorses. I think they may actually being in a legal dispute with the guy who made those videos...

Its not the guy that made the videos that's in legal dispute with Hasbro. He used clips from GI Joe that are owned by Hasbro. Hasbro using something that he created would completely defeat the purpose of pursing any legal action against him, assuming that's what the dispute is over.
You can't use the work you're trying to claim fraud.

Lawsuits about the PSA's!? Thats very un-cool. They probably do not understand the fun comedy behind the videos. Are the creators of the original cartoon trying to sue them?

I'm not sure if I am more upset that the bastardized versions of my childhood heroes would have been screaming "PORKCHOP SANDWICHES", or the fact that Hasbro is totally trying to destroy some of the best internet videos of all time.

I don't think the guy who made the PSAs made anything off of them... I saw him at the Franklin Institute a few years ago and he didn't look like he was rolling in it. (He actually opened for Tim and Eric giving a symposium about "Tom Goes to the Mayor".... yea... I couldn't make this stuff up if I wanted.)
