After several versions for different platforms stemming back to the first Ace Combat on the original PlayStation, the Ace Combat series has finally hit the monumental sales number of 10,000.000. Being universally acclaimed as one of the best combat simulators on the market, Ace Combat has consistently delivered fantastic titles, with one of the highlights being the sixth and most recent installment on the Xbox 360.

Bear in mind, the series has gone most of this time without much in the way of competition. Not unlike the Tony Hawk or Guitar Hero series, Ace Combat has enjoyed several years of developers not “bringing it” where it needs to be “brung.” Ubisoft’s announcement of H.A.W.X. might change the skyscape a bit. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see Ace Combat dethroned, like we saw with EA’s Skate and Rock Band a few months back.
