Age of Conan Sees Large Server Mergers
Funcom's MMO Approaches Age's End?
by Coop

Funcom's Age of Conan might be approaching the end of its short lived life, as the developers have announced a massive merger of the game's servers. Over half of the game's 49 servers are to be cut, bringing the number to a much less impressive 18. A large server mush usually signals the end of an MMO's life, but it doesn't always come quickly. While low-populated servers create situations that might cause players to leave an online game (like trouble finding groups or PVP opponents), populated servers can cause players to stay or, at best, bring some back, sparking the economy and creating a better gameplay environment.
It's still best to assume Age of Conan is on life support, but that doesn't mean the plug will be pulled anytime soon. Funcom promises to spend the next few months adding more end-game content to their title, and hopefully the server merger helps the game from falling victim to the troubled economy and keeps the few remaining Age of Conan players happy.
