Animal Crossing: The Movie

Once Upon a Time in Smashville?

by Coop

Animal Crossing is a franchise that I love, masculinity aside. Even though you play a silly looking character making friends with silly looking animals and trying to get silly looking furniture for your, that’s right, silly looking house, I have always found the title addicting. The Gamecube version was a gateway drug to the stellar and crack cocaine substitute version that was released on the Nintendo DS. Sure, it is one of the only games that it is next to impossible to pick up and play after a few weeks of neglect, but that is part of the charm - or something.

There was even a Japanese movie about the game, and even though there is a zilcho percent chance that we will ever see a stateside release it is worth watching a few minutes of on Youtube to see exactly what we are missing.

It catches the feel of the game well enough and I can’t shake the feeling that it would make an awesome kids cartoon for Disney or Nickelodeons. That is, if it copied it exactly from my town in every way. If it were about anyone else’s town I could care less.

I had pears, by the way. Forests of them.
