Atlus to Publish 3D Dot Game Hero
It's Dangerous to Go Alone
by Coop
Thought that the nostalgic orgasm that is 3D Dot Game Heroes would go a few weeks without having a publisher? Think again! Atlus, who published From Software's last title, Demon's Souls, has announced plans to publish 3D Dot Game Heroes for America, and will be bringing the Zelda ripoff remake clone to the PlayStation 3 on May 11, 2009. Hold onto your butts, folks, it's going to be a wild ride. For those who don't know, the game is an old-school action game akin to The Legend of Zelda and... The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, featuring adorably retrotastic graphics in the shape of 3D pixels.
Mind blown yet? If not, the press release sits comfortably below, preparing to be read. Since it's Atlus, they've filled it with a few dozen game references, so be sure to read between the lines, since they're well masked, that's to be sure.
We've contacted Atlus, asking for more information. And by more information we mean an email with a body comprised of the words "DO WANT" over and over again. Over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. Hopefully the retro doesn't get in the way of me having fun, since we all know how that went last time...
ATLUS LINKS TO LEGENDS PAST, ANNOUNCES 3D DOT GAME HEROES™ FOR PlayStation®3 COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM Hey, who put game cubes in my PS3® system?
IRVINE, CALIFORNIA -- NOVEMBER 17, 2009 -- Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today revealed that it has licensed the rights to your childhood memories. Pixels rule again in the ultimate retro action-adventure game 3D Dot Game Heroes™ for PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, slated to land in North America on May 11, 2010.
"The 8- and 16-bit classics many gamers cut their teeth on are magical, down to their blocky sprites and elegantly simple gameplay," mused Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus, while twirling his rattail and wearing a poorly coordinated denim-on-denim outfit. "3D Dot Game Heroes captures all of that legendary charm and more, bringing classic visuals, familar sounds, and a grand sense of exploration and discovery into stunning next-gen realization, all the while giving countless winks and nudges to the fans those iconic games mean the most to. This is pure action-adventure gaming at its finest, a true love-letter to a time-honored genre," he added while putting baseball cards in the spokes of his 10-speed.
Dripping with old school charm, classic gaming pizzazz, and pure retro sexy, 3D Dot Game Heroes is the ultimate homage to the industry's golden era.
3D Dot Game Heroes is scheduled to release on May 11, 2010 with an MSRP of $39.99.
