Barbarian the Only Returing DII Class in DIII?
Amazon Says, "Say it 'Aint So!"
by Coop
At Leipzig, Diablo III lead designer Jay Wilson has confirmed that the Barbarian may be the only of Diablo II's classes to make a return in Diablo III. Apparently the Barbarian was the most flawed of the group and would benefit from a revamp the most, while other classes, like the Necromancer, were too good to justify upgrading for Diablo III. That doesn't make a lick of sense to me, but if it means that the Barbarian is the only returning class than I draw issue with it.
Some of the originals, like Amazon and Sorceress, should be back just to avoid fanboy outcry. I don't think it's too much to ask that Blizzard put a bow-user back into the game; odds are they will just rebrand it and call it an Archer or Hunter. It definitely sounds like something they would do, and it would be annoying fans for an unnecessary reason.
This could all be a misunderstanding, which isn’t uncommon when you’re Blizzard and talk in riddles to keep your fans guessing, but it sounds like we might see a whole new crew when Diablo III is release in 2035.

every day at work i say "dude, diablo 3" to my coworker who plays WoW. she gets annoyed every time.
on a side note, they may not be bringing back "the classics" but i bet the "new" classes will be some sort of hybrid, for better and worse.
If the Paladin isn't back in some form or another, I'll be a very sad panda.
cleric.
My guess is they are just renaming them, more or less. Like rogue, thief, scoundrel, and assassin are all like the same class.
