Battlefield: Bad Company Updates Incoming
Voice Chat Fixes Make me Explode Inside
by Coop
EA has updated their Battlefield: Bad Company webpage with news about some upcoming enhancements they plan on making to the game, several of which should go a great distance to enhancing the multiplayer experience. The changes, listed below, are a result of the gaming communities problems with the title as expressed through “Live accounts, Facebook, emails, phone calls, faxes (People still use those??) on our forums.” Here are the changes they plan on making:
- Clan support/private rooms/team chat
- Auto balancing on servers
- Continued support against stats exploits
- VOIP issue on PS3 (working with Sony on this)
- Squads might be split up when joining a server as a squad. This is due to team balancing in the games that are being joined, and usually resolves itself in round 2.
When I reviewed the title I reluctantly dropped the score to an 8/10 due to the issues with voice chat in a game that was supposed to focus on communication, and while Gamervision doesn't have a policy about re-reviewing games (otherwise every game would require a replay after a patch) I can confidently say that these changes bump the game to a 9.
While the community event we had on Sunday was fun, many complained about the lack of structure due to the game's lack of Private Matches and Team Chat. I look forward to seeing you all back on the battlefield if this update is timely, because some of you still owe me a dog tag.
