Capcom has released a new trailer for Bionic Commando’s multiplayer mode, which looks much better than expected. I sort of wish that the trailer showed more swinging and less shooting, but it appears that the game engine has the capability for both, bumping up its value significantly. The idea of chasing an opponent through the streets in a pseudo-Spiderman chase sequence raises an eyebrow for me, and I can imagine the multiplayer being fun in the same way that Crackdown’s was.

Different game modes are mentioned but never explored, but I can think of some I would like to see. A capture the flag mode would be awesome, with the flag encumbering your swinging capability. This sort of makes me wish that they would copy Gears of War’s new multiplayer mode and make the flag a person, kicking and screaming, trying to get loose. Tag, too, would be awesome, but I might be the only one sitting in the lobby, trying to get a game of tag going.

So, enjoy the video? I think it looks great, even if the models for players look a lot like action figures.
