Black Friday Haul Recap
Did Gamers Make Out Like Bandits?
by Coop

In about two hours the East Coast will be saying goodnight to the shopping extravaganza known as Black Friday. We laughed, we cried, we considered buying things we don’t need because they were marked down 12%, and, in the end, we spent money. I picked up both an iPod Touch and a 22’ LCD Monitor from Newegg for my father this holiday season. Why? Because they were on sale. Or something.
I wanted to buy more, and a certain 32’ LCD HDTV was giving me looks in the electronics aisle of K-Mart, but even without it I ended up dropping several hundred dollars that, in all honest, would be better spent elsewhere. I know that Amazon had some crazy Black Friday deals and Gamestop is running a B2G1 sale on Used Games, but I decided to hold off.
Did anyone break the bank this Black Friday? Or are we all saving our greenbacks for Cyber Monday?

To be honest I'm waiting about another week before I start purchasing. I'm saving for a few things, receiving money for a "sold" computer from about a year ago, capping Horde with my sniper rifle, and watching Great Teacher Onizuka for the first time in years.
And, yes, I also have my eyes on a certain 32" LCD HDTV. It's at Wal*Mart, though. It might even be the same as the one you saw. Circuit City, as I saw in yesterdays paper, is having awesome deals on some TV's. Their online store rocks, but I don't have it all up front. Oh, well, maybe next time. Or maybe my family will ignore my wish list and just pitch in for a new LCD HDTV for me. Who knows?
I'd have picked up the one at K-Mart if they weren't incompetent asses, and if their entire HD-TV section wasn't playing a DVD of Wall-E. No, not a Blu-Ray disk of Wall-E, a standard DVD. Way to show off the new technology, fellas.
I didn't buy a damn thing. When I got home from my parents' house yesterday afternoon I had no desire to leave the house again.
I probably should have braved the mall, since I wanted to get some holiday shopping done early, but playing Animal Crossing in my pajamas seemed like a better idea at the time.
I got in on a deal at SunCoast with DVD box sets. got two for the price of one. There, got at least one person's x-mas shopping done:)
I've had a ban on Black Friday for a few years now. I think I'm better off spending the extra money to avoid the hassle, especially since some guy was trampled to death this year.
@Oni: you mean the wal-mart story? Well, Wally-world tends to attract white trash individuals who feel they absolutly need that big screen tv for dirt cheap...even if someone dies in the middle of the store, they're still going to shop.
I hope every one of those bastards gets charged with man slaughter.
Yeah, the Wal-Mart in Long Island. I guess some pregnant lady got trampled and lost her baby too. It's insane. Stores need to start putting better rules in place to protect people's safety.
