Bully Glitches Out for 360
Rockstar Working Hard? Or Hardly Working!
by Coop
When Bully was released on the Playstation 2 I snapped it up immediately. The game wasn't as good as it's older brother, Grand Theft Auto, but it was a fine game in its own right. The title released late in the PS2's life so gamers largely ignored it, so when it was announced it would be brought to the next generation I was excited to hear that more people would have a chance to enjoy the title I thought was one of Rockstar's best. Two versions were made for the re-release, one for the Xbox 360 and one for the Wii. The obvious differences between the two are motion sensing for one and high-definition graphics for the other. For people who had already played through it, the Wii version was the choice to be made so they would be able to have a unique experience. For everyone else, the high-definition edition was the right move. There was another difference that no one really saw coming, though…
When HeyKidNiceRobot told me he had picked up the game and it was riddled with bugs I didn’t really believe him. Rockstar has always delivered at least a moderately polished product, and to think that this new title, which they had spent some time hyping, would be delivered half-baked was almost blasphemous. More reports are already popping up about the game having a terrible frame rate and being littered with bugs for older systems, and Rockstar has already issued a response:
We have just become aware of the issues people are having with Bully Scholarship Edition on Xbox 360. It appears that some older 360s are experiencing framerate issues, freezes and other problems. You have our word that we never experienced any of this in QA - in any of our offices or at Microsoft. I am horrified, and we are now working around the clock to rectify this situation. Thanks to Neo-Gaf for bringing this matter to our attention. We love our games and put a huge amount of energy and care into making them all that they can be. We would never shove anything out the door - we never have and never will.
We apologise [sic] to everyone affected for the inconvenience.
Respectfully, Sam Houser
This is similar to the issues that gamers who picked up Two Worlds had, with older systems not being able to run the game as well. They have promised a speedy patch to fix the issues, but for some gamers it may be too late. We will keep you posted on this and make sure to post any more news on the subject for anyone anticipating picking this up.

I originally clicked on this article to criticize your use of a cliche in the tagline, as well as not recognizing that "Or hardly working!" is probably still deserving of a question mark and not an exclaimation point. Plus exclaimation points just suck all around, and you can be sure that I read that tag line in 100% Jim-Norton-Exclaimation-Point style.
But then I saw the Gamervision political cartoon and was totally won over and forgot any criticisms I may or may not have had.
I played about an hour and then returned it. The glitches were to much to handle.
That's funny Rockstar is blaming the framerate issues on older 360s, give me a break!
What is an older 360 defined as? Mine was manufactured in august 2006. Does that make mine an 'older 360'? Either way it's a poor effort.
I think that the only reason my 360 is still working is because it's well ventilated, plus I hardly ever use it. Kind of like the MS wheel I'm afraid to touch because it breaks just that little more each time.
I'm seriously considering a competitor in the next round of consoles. I have no faith in MS products anymore. It's a pity, because I loved my original XBOX. That thing just worked and still does.
