Burnout: Paradise Developers May Add Planes

I Believe an "Lol Wut" is in Order

by Coop

Hey, remember when Criterion said they were adding Motorcycles to Burnout: Paradise and we thought they were nuts? Well, we had better call the nut-hut, because they have just kicked it into crazyth-gear. On their official blog they have posted a long list of all of their future updates and what they plan on making the "Year of Paradise." There are the promised multiplayer enhancements, turning a fun sandbox mode into a fully fleshed out competitive paradise, the night driving we were promised, as well as extra areas to explore and motorcycles, and a little tidbit at the bottom that would have gone unnoticed if it weren't so, well, strange.

We're already working on bikes and night-time, a brand new island off the coast of Paradise city, and more besides (we're even experimenting with planes!)

I can barely, just barely understand how bikes factor into the equation. They don't really fit the mood of the game, but I could imagine that if they add in "flipping off a bike and smashing into a car" physics than I will not complain. Jets, or planes, however, I cannot even fathom. Will they just kind of roll around on the streets? Will they fly above Paradise City? Will they, I don't know, shoot stuff? I am completely and utterly perplexed, and while they say that they are "experimenting" with planes (which means we may never actually get them) I would imagine that them actually mentioning it means that they have some sort of idea as to how it could work, and I would LOVE to hear it.
