Champions Online Shows Off Millennium City
Doctor Destroyer is Kinda a Dick
by Coop
Cryptic has released a few new screenshots for Champions Online, this time inviting gamers to take a look at Millennium City. It looks, well, like every other city in a video game, but that's not a bad thing. I've spent a little bit of time exploring the world of Champions Online in the past week, so check back soon for my impressions. In the meantime, here's their official description and a few screenshots to make the wait slightly less painful.
It's been more than 17 years since Doctor Destroyer blasted Detroit into rubble. But today, the gleaming skyscrapers of Millennium City stand upon the ashes of Detroit as an example of innovation and determination, drawing Heroes from far and wide. The world's most powerful superteam, the Champions, can be found in Millennium City, in addition to other colorful heroes, like the genetically-altered genius gorilla Dr. Silverback or the super strong cop codenamed Kodiak.
Of course, there are superhuman villains as well. High-tech thieves and mercenaries plague the city's corporations and research facilities. The New Purple Gang has formed out of the remnants of Detroit's organized crime families. Menaces like VIPER, PSI and DEMON lurk in the shadows, waiting for their chance to strike. The unpredictable Foxbat is continually plotting one zany caper after another, while the threat of Dr. Destroyer hangs in the air like a gathering storm.

Ok, I'll put it out there: why would I play Champions Online instead of waiting for DC Universe?
The Unpredictable Foxbats! That's the name of my new Emo-band.
Sean - Answer - Because it's developed by people who know superhero MMOs; Cryptic.
Sounds a little like RoboCop. Weren't they going to rebuild Detroit in that, too? Delta City, was it?
@NickDynmo
I don't know why everyone is ignoring this good idea. Reduce Detroit to a pile of smoldering rubble and build a nice shiny new city on top of it. Seems like the only option at this point....
I just can't look at it. Am I the only one that feels like this art style is just not working? All the streets and buildings look way too clean. I mean, shouldn't there be some low-level litterers that serve as the fodder for the early quests?
