One of the best handheld games of the year so far, Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, is making its way to Sony's handheld platform this fall, likely in response to the DS version's lackluster sales. Take-Two announced this morning that the game would be made available for both the PSP and the PSPgo, but haven't commented on whether or not there will be a difference in the store and digital version. More likely than not, PR people haven't yet decided if its worth mentioning the fact that their game will be available on the PSPgo, or if it's just a given that all PSP games will be available for the handheld. Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, had the following to say on the announcement:

"We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSPgo. Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."

The game made use of many of the DS's unique capabilities, such as the dual screens and the touch screen, so it will be interesting to see how the game makes the transition. Many of the mechanics can simply be mapped to buttons, while others will likely have to be changed around or removed completely. Also unknown is exactly how similar it will look to the DS version, and whether or not they will make it more similar to the GTA Stories titles that have been made available on the system. Hopefully more will be announced soon, since there's always room for more mature titles on the handheld front.
