Crysis PS3 50% New Game?

British Magazine PSW Thinks So

by Coop

There have been several conflicting reports on whether or not the Crytek engine could be pulled off on game consoles. On several occasions its developers have gone on record to say that it would be impossible, and that bringing the engine to consoles would result in it being toned down considerably. On several other occasions, the exact opposite has been said. As time has gone on it has been leaked, rumored, and somewhat confirmed that it is possible, and that Crysis would eventually find a port to at least the Playstation 3.

Joystiq has the scoop on a British Playstation Magazine PSW that has confirmed some details about the Crysis port for the Playstation 3, stating that their information comes from an insider at the company.

So, instead of seeing a scaled down version of Crysis we are going to see more? 50% extra doesn't mean any real improvement; mind you, just more content. Each "upgrade" that Ubisoft made to Farcry actually knocked the game down a peg, leading to worse and worse gameplay. It is a bold statement for them to say that it is going to be one of the year's biggest console shooters in a year filled with them. We should see Battlefield: Bad Company, Haze, Call of Duty 5, and even Farcry 2 in 2008, all of which could turn out to be better then the game which was essentially gun-porn.

Gamervision will keep you posted on any news on this highly anticipated (and not 100% confirmed) title.
