Darksiders Avatar Gear Won't Ruin Your Wallet
Prepare for War
by Coop

What? More stuff? Get used to it. Expect the Avatar Marketplace to continue to grow, as it's apparent that gamers are ready to drop money on just about every piece of digital clothing Microsoft is willing to allow on Xbox Live. This time around, it's THQ's recent hit, Darksiders, which has just seen a handful of new gear added to throw onto the service for Avatars of either sex. As per usual, much of the clothing takes the form of shirts and hats with different elements of the game slapped on, such as "Settle the Score" and "Crack Some Skulls." Other stuff comes straight from the game, like War's awesome outfit (but not his awesome sword). Nothing, and I mean nothing, matches the Ruin Mask, which allows fans of the game (or of horses) to enact all of their wild "Equus" fantasies for only a few hundred points. It's incredibly silly looking, but, on that same note, might be the coolest thing ever added to the Marketplace. Well, until they add a miniature Ruin to fly around like a pet. That seems like a wildly missed opportunity.
Completing the list of fake clothing is a few helmets that should be perfect for anyone looking for something to protect their Avatar's heads from falling debris. I expect to see plenty of people pick up the Angel Helmet, since it looks like something from God of War. As we all know, the Romans loved decking themselves out to look like the heroes of Mount Olympus. Or... at least the ones in God of War do. Sadly, none of these items are unlockable as Avatar Rewards, which is something I hope is used more in the future. I might sound like a broken record talking about this, but seriously: what better reward for beating a game than getting a shirt with the logo on it? Turn me into a billboard, please!
Plan on buying any of these awesome (or creepy) items for your digital self? In only a few months, you'll be able to walk around with them in Game Room, so you might as well buy some crazy clothing now before it's all sold out.
