David Jaffe's Twisted Metal is Due Out in 2010?

Rumor: Jaffe Gets Excited, Makes Noises, Don't Know What to Do

by Coop

David Jaffe is working on a new game, and it's not a sequel to Calling All Cars. No, it's likely a sequel to Twisted Metal, as the project has been teased on several occasions. Hell, Jaffe even posted a document about it on his blog, poorly blurring out certain elements that were easily un-blurred that made the next game sound a lot like a vehicular combat game (settle down, I already said it isn't a sequel to Calling All Cars.) For as talented as he is, the guy just can't keep his mouth shut up about the stuff he's working on, and if 1UP is to be believed, he has, yet again, started flapping those gums, and made some noises about Twisted Metal.

During the AIAS Interactive Achievement Awards, someone in the crowd apparently yelled "Twisted Metal!" at Jaffe. Jaffe, who reacts to people calling him out with the self control of Marty McFly being called a coward, reportedly yelled back, "Soon, bitch -- eight or nine months!" While it's still completely unconfirmed if he was, indeed, replying to a Twisted Metal chant, it makes sense that he's is indeed working on Twisted Metal that will be out in 2010. Odds are Sony is saving such an announcement for either GDC, which is next month, or E3, which is in the Summer. Either way, expect to hear more very soon, since there's little chance Jaffe can make it another month without shouting something else to a crowd of journalists. Let's just hope that next time it's followed by him throwing DVDs with screenshots in the air.
