In a trailer released yesterday, EA talked about ‘Strategic Dismemberment’ in Dead Space, explaining that headshots and body-shots are all but useless aboard the Ishimura, as the Necromorphs need to be taken apart limb by limb to be destroyed.

Today, EA has released a longer, more gameplay-oriented video, demonstrating exactly how this works. At first I was reluctant to imagine a shooter where headshots were discouraged, but after seeing it in action I am excited for a shooting game that dares to push that boundary, and Dead Space appears to be the game to do it. Not only that, they pull it off with an impressive amount of tact.
