Demon's Souls 2 in the Works?

Rumor: From Software Hates You

by Coop

Could From Software be working on a sequel to their wildly popular 2009 RPG, Demon's Souls? Some people seem to think so, with the rumors starting on a NeoGaf post that points to the latest Dengeki Games podcast. Here's a quote, likely whispered in a frightened, trembling voice under a bed:

In the latest Dengeki Games podcast, there a mention of an unannounced sequel to a game which came out last year, slated to be released in Fall of 2010. The game is said to be challenging and extremely hard, with very "interesting" gameplay systems. Are there any real candidates from Japan from 2009 which would classify as such besides Demon's Souls?

To be honest, that really could mean anything, but the emphasis on "extremely hard" would definitely point a shaking finger at Demon's Souls 2. That, or Cross Edge, but I doubt anyone could have made a case for a sequel to that game without laughing themselves to death. I was barely able to type it without throwing a clot in my brain.

Rumor or not, it seems like a no-brainer for From Software to make a sequel to Demon's Souls. The first sold well, a lot of people seemed to like it, and there was still plenty of dead, desolate, demon filled world to explore. For fans of the game, not much would need to be changed in order to justify a purchase, and I doubt they'd want to change the core game that so many seemed to enjoy so, very much. For the people who didn't like it? Who cares, you're just all knuckle-dragging frat boys who don't understand gaming. Assholes.

While I wasn't the biggest Demon's Souls fan... ah, who am I kidding, I don't want to get anywhere near a sequel to this. Well, I might play it, but I'm sure as hell not going to review it. You can all go screw yourselves.

If they can impove the last game's shoddy fighting mechanics, it might be worth the frustration to try this one out. If not, I'll be at home, appreciating the artfulness of WWE Smackdown! Vs. Raw 2010. And yes, that game is art.

Games are not art, Coop is a fratboy who kisses other frat boys, and a game that is hard is automatically awesome.

I would be Atlus biggest fan if they would come out with a sequel because I love the hell out of this game. It's funny how tons of so-called "Hardcore" gamers threw a bitch fest about how brutally hard this game was and in all honesty it wasn't for me. I'm older than the average gamer and the ones who whined were younger than me, how sad.
