Dragon Quest IX Delayed in Japan
US Delay Likely
by Coop

The DS exclusive continuation of the Dragon Quest series has been pushed back in Japan, moving from March 28th to June 11th. As opposed to the typical company line of "taking time to assure the game blah blah blah," Square-Enix took the honest route, admitting to finding several large glitches that hinder the experience. It's good to finally see a developer admit that their game wasn't done instead of delaying it for marketing reasons. Then again, there's always a chance the excuse is a red herring, and the team just wanted to take the time to make Kane and Lynch unlockable characters.
Square hasn't gone on record, but this likely means a push for the American version as well. Hopefully it doesn't mean too long of a wait, because a cooperative Dragon Quest on the DS has had me salivating for going on two years now. Hopefully they don't disappoint.

I could never play any of the Dragon Quest games because I can't get passed the Dragon Ball Z-esque character designs. I'm sure it's a superb game series; I just can't see myself watching Bulma and King Yama questing together. That's all.
Le sigh.
QMarc, you should give DQ VIII a chance - it's such an excellent game. And the characters don't look as DBZ-esque.
It's such a well animated game with EXCELLENT voice acting (still somewhat of a rarity in RPGs), good writing, and old-school/basic, yet fun gameplay.
But yeah, I'm not a fan of Akira Toriyama either.
Rela..., are you kidding? VIII had the mostDBZ looking characters. They go freaking super saiyajin!
