EA Drops BattleForge's Price Again

From $30 to $0

by Coop

EA has announced that BattleForge is now completely free to play. This might be one of the fastest markdowns in gaming, as it launched, was cut to $29.99, and then again to $0 in a matter of months. If the first price cut was a knee-jerk reaction to the game's poor sales than I can only wonder what this might mean, but it likely isn't good news for EA's inventive RTS.

The free version will still come with all of the features of the retail version including 32 of the game's 200 cards. Just as before, buying additional cards costs money, and retail versions of the game will continue to be sold at $29.99 as booster packs, featuring enough cards to play happily for a good time. It's a shame that this game (presumably) isn't selling well, because it's a pretty fun experience. Too bad no one else feels like spending time to find out.

Be sure to check back next week when EA begins paying people to play BattleForge. Seriously - it's only a matter of time.
