UPDATE: Yep, it's ToR. Oh well, let's go 2011!

Earlier today, EA's Jon Riccitiello talked massively multiplayer online RPGs during a conference call, though the CEO wasn't really specific as to which one he was talking about. At one point, he made reference to an EA MMO, which he said was “making great progress towards a Spring 2011 launch.” He didn't specify if it was BioWare's The Old Republic, Realtime Worlds' APB, or an unannounced RPG, though it would appear that he means The Old Republic. The reason? An announced MMORPG would likely be more than a year away, and APB is still slated for a 2010 release, presumably coming out within the next few months. The Old Republic, on the other hand, has never been given even a whisper of a release date, and with a project as big as a fully voice-acted MMO, another 12-15 months doesn't seem like it would be out of the question.

Now, before you cry, know this: The Old Republic is going to be really, really cool, and every moment that goes by without it on store shelves is a wasted instance of time itself. Every breath you take is meaningless, every move trivial, everything you do is utterly without purpose. In other words, we're all on the same boat here, and this is crappy news for everyone. With PAX East just around the corner (and GDC, E3, and PAX West only a few short months after), I'm sure we'll hear more, especially considering how much BioWare loves showing off their games at conventions. Hell, I'm shocked they didn't show up at my last LAN party with a build of ToR. Shocked and... well... I wasted a few bear-traps, that's all.
