Europe Gets Kinda-Awesome PS3 Bundles

No Metal Gear Solid in Sight

by Coop

Sony, the company that loves to bash others for having too many SKUs while releasing a new one ever other day, has announced two new bundles for Europe due out later this year. A few days ago they reported a new bundle would be released in America, which would include the 40 gig system and the game Metal Gear Solid 4 for $499. Apparently this bundle is not right for our friends across the pond, and they will instead get the two packages seen below.

I have never cared for the Gran Turismo series, so the prospect of it being forced on me in a bundle has me about as excited as I am of the unplayed copy of Motorstorm on my shelf. Call me old fashion, but unless they plan on giving me some turtle shells to deal with people riding my tail I will have to go ahead and pass up that one.

The blu-ray bundle is actually pretty cool though and the movies it comes with aren’t too bad. In fact, they rock. Seeing as the format war is over and Sony has officially come out the winner, it would appear that this bundle is their victory march over the corpse of Toshiba.

The blu-ray movie pack will be available on March 19th in Europe and the GT5 edition will come out on March 28th. Both will retail for €399 which, if my calculations are correct, is around $12,000. Sure, these are no Metal Gear Solid bundles, but with the way things are going with delays, they will get these long before that game ever comes out.
