Fable II's Knothole Island Slips to '09

There Goes My Christmas

by Coop

According to Xbox.com's Calander of Events, the upcoming and fairly enticing downloadable content for Fable II, Knothole Island, has slipped from roasting chestnuts before Christmas to being a belated and forgotten gift in late January of 2009. It's not the worst news ever, especially considering the surplus of games already piling up on most gamer's desks, but it's disappointing nevertheless.

Here's the quote from the Play and Win Page, and be sure not to make jokes about Lionhead in this troubling time. Last I heard, Peter was still upset that the G4 guys got mad at each other over his game - he never meant to hurt anyone.

“Due to unexpected technical difficulties, the Fable II: Knothole Island expansion will not be available until late January 2009.  As a result, the Fable II, Knothole Island Download and Win, originally scheduled to take place December 22 – 23, 2008, has been temporarily suspended.  Please check back for updates.  In addition, you can still register for the Download & Win by downloading the free Fable II: Knothole Island registration gamerpic, or by registering via Xbox.com at www.xbox.com/fableIIknotholesweeps.  Registered participants will be notified using the contact information provided at time of registration with revised Download and Win Entry Period dates.”

The only explanation cites "unexpected technical difficulties," so it's a good thing that Lionhead is doing the right thing this time and delaying the game, instead of pushing out an unfinished product and banking on a timely patch to save the day. Maybe they learned their lesson, or maybe they realized that DLC doesn't need to make a holiday release.

Wait, Lionhead Studio's promised one thing and now it's something else? That's unlike them.

Honestly, I'm a little relieved by this. I'm much more likely to download the expansion in 2009, because I have way too much on my plate now, gaming-wise. And like you said, if they were having technical difficulties, good for them postponing it and doing it right instead of putting it out glitchy or broken.

What?! Something that Peter Molyneux is working on has been delayed? Surely, you must be joking. Everything that man's ever done has come out exactly when it was supposed to. This is a shock!

Wow... didn't even read your post Jozzy. Now I feel terribly unoriginal.
