Fallout 3 DLC Explained
Expect Oblivionish Expansions
by Coop
Bethesda’s VP Pete Hines disclosed some information about Fallout 3’s downloadable content to Shacknews. Don’t expect any horse armor or cosmetic changes, Bethesda plans on going all out for the future of Fallout:
We want stuff that's going to be several hours. Not just like a one-off thing, but something like where you can download it and play it for X number of hours. It'll be similar to what we did with Knights of the Nine in Oblivion, where it's like whole new quest lines, new stuff, that kind of thing.
I don’t know why no one predicted this, the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion expansions sold well and were extremely well received, so keeping that same style in Fallout 3 is to be expected. Plus, it means we can eventually buy them on disk, install them to our HDD, and return it to Gamestop! Right?
The idea of immersive, interesting side quests is one of the things pulling me towards Fallout, so more content down the line is appealing. I’m sure that the DLC isn’t coming out anytime soon, but what do you expect to see? New towns in the barren wastes? More radioactive enemies to deal with? Let’s hope Bethesda is feeling more creative than I am, because that’s the best I got.

Nice, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. Not that I have time to play most of the games I plan on buying this holiday season, let alone DLC, but still nice nonetheless.
Just when I thought I couldn't be more excited for this game...
Shivering Isles was AMAZING. In fact, I think I liked it better than the main quest line. This is good news indeed.
