Fallout 3 Not Rated By Australian Classification Board
Not Being Rated is Actually Important
by Coop

The Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification, otherwise known as the ESRB down under, has revealed that they have refused to classify Fallout 3. Refusing to classify a title by TAOoFaL is the equivalent of a game receiving an AO rating in the states, effectively barring it from release in the country. I can’t say I am surprised about this after yesterday’s confirmation of sex, homosexuality, nudity, prostitution, slavery, cannibalism, drugs, addictions, and all other forms of debauchery in the game, but I am happy that the game is far along enough to be rated or, in this case, not rated.
This doesn’t mean that the game cannot be released in the country at all, just that it will need to be toned down a bit before it comes out. There was a similar situation with Grand Theft Auto IV just a few months ago, and the game was released on time, albeit neutered for the Australian audience.
