Final Fantasy IX Confirmed for Japanese PSN
Super Deformed Awesome!

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, but Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada confirmed today that Final Fantasy IX will be coming to the PlayStation Store in Japan. This means it can be played on the PS3 and PSP, just like Final Fantasy VII and VIII are. No pricing or date has been given, so, in a way, nothing has changed. We're still without FF IX on the PSN, we don't know when it's coming out, and we don't know how much it will cost. Let's be honest: we all sort of knew this would happen eventually, and Yoichi has just decided that it's time for "eventually" to show its face.
Odds are it'll be the same price as the last two, sitting at around $10, but there's always a chance they'll throw a curve ball and raise it by a few dollars or drop it by a few. Considering it's the least popular of the PlayStation Final Fantasy titles, they're likely going to let it sit right in line with the others, barely drawing attention to it. It's not Final Fantasy VII, after all. Then again, I see little reason not to bundle it onto a disk for the PSP or PS2 now that they've all been ported over. God knows Square loves repackaging things more than anyone this side of Ubisoft.

I wonder when it will make its way to the American PSN store. I actually enjoyed playing this game.
Predictions: Yes to US store. Yes to price increase. $12.50.
